I haven’t had any sleep…well, a nap of minutes, but that doesn’t count. Today is quiet — blissfully quiet. Whenver it rains, the world turns quiet, and it’s GREAT. I love the rain. I love that people stay in their homes sulking, allowing me to enjoy quietude. It’s wonderful.
Of course, I’m a little depressed, too. I just got wind of some more very ugly, ugly plans for the area and the neighborhood. I need to move far, far away where no human, only nature, moves the landscape. I absolutely abhor development of any kind. We’re just marring the planet. Ugly.
Know what we need? A world-wide virus to sterilize the entire human race and another one to attack any clones or in vitro fertilization attempts. Until we’re down to a stable population under 1 billion world wide. Then we need something to make sure we keep it at that level forever.
Dawn, did you ever watch that old sci-fi show from the late seventies called Space:1999?
Your comments here reminded me of one of the episodes, where Moon Base Alpha drifts near a planet suitable for colonization.

Actually, no, I didn’t. Is the DivX install safe? And thanks for being patient on me approving your comments. Husband just broke his foot, so I’ve been a bit busy tenderly tending him, not an easy thing. He’s a tad bit grumpy and more than a bit “woozled” from pain killers until the orthopedist can work on him next week.
Yes, the DivX install is free of anything malefic, and no different than whats available on a dozen other freeware sites like download.com…you will need the plugin enabled though.
I cancelled my $50 a month cable TV service a year ago and havent looked back since. There is so much video content available now that you can get everything from the nightly news to foreign films and concerts to decades old TV shows.
Theres almost too much choice fatigue involved!
My eyes start going foggy and watery if I read too much screen text, so I just got a bigger screen with multiple inputs that I can use for any source. I can read it without strain even eight feet away!

Well, the eyes are better, thanks to a change in diet (“add a little sugar to your life, Dawn. You’re getting older, and your body needs it. Just a little…,” and it worked…along with some medication with silver in it I had to take for some weeks.
The foot? A stack of something called glue lams fell over, and he got everything except his left foot out of the way. Luckily. Otherwise, it would have been a whole body experience! Luckily, big as he is, he’s quick, not usual for a guy who can pick me up and throw me around like a rag doll. 😀
I’ll try the install. I don’t watch any TV, but the SF is my fav, and I saw some actors on there I recognize as good, so….

A few things Ive noticed about SF over the years.
First, it tends to be Godless…that is, seldom projecting the idea that any cosmic deity is in charge of the universe. On the other hand SF often believes in some form of ‘spirit’ or at else psychic phenomena.
Second, its plots still tend to revolve around good and evil. No matter how technologically advanced a civilization becomes, it still has to contend with ethical choices. And I suppose there can be no drama without it…in the same way that there can be no music without both dissonant and consonant intervals.
The story in this Space:1999 episode is interesting in that its about us humans coming into contact with a society in which there is no evil…or at least none of the other elements usually distinguished as human weaknesses.
Things like the fear of death, attachment to sexual desire, the constant drive to defend or exalt the human ego, which makes us delight in praise or enrage in blame.
The aliens in this case regard us as little more than viruses encroaching on their world…and have no defense except to manifest our own fears within the confines of our own minds. Their weapons are entirely psychic in nature.
Sounds good. Good and evil are human concepts. They are tools of control, and rely on fear. Anything which relies on fear is falacious, to my way of thinking.
As to god or no to god, who cares? Really. Does it matter? No. Personally, the concept of god is a crutch. Everything that people “perceive” as supermundane is just simply that which they have not developed or are not aware of. Imagine if you will a caveman witnessing a lazer cut flesh. There is nothing hooey dooey. It’s simply not yet comprehended and apprehended and developed. Just my two cents.
